Boilerplate

Three lengths. Use whichever fits; no need to ask.

One line · 69 characters

Restaurant food cost software that tells you which menu price to fix.

Short · 155 characters

Marji scans supplier invoices and menus, tracks every dish's margin in real time, and recommends the exact menu price to fix — for independent restaurants.

Full · 528 characters

Marji is restaurant food cost and margin software built for independent operators running one to five locations. Photograph a paper menu and every dish is digitised and costed in about a minute. Marji then reads supplier invoices, recosts every affected recipe the day a price changes, and recommends the specific menu price that restores your target margin — with the invoice line attached as evidence. It needs no POS connection: the menu is read from a photograph. Marji never changes a price without explicit owner approval.

Data you can cite

We publish a Restaurant Food Cost Index — a fixed-weight index of the ten commodities independent restaurants buy most, built on US Bureau of Labor Statistics average-price data and weighted for a restaurant basket rather than a household one. It updates weekly.

It is published under CC BY 4.0. Take the numbers, the charts, or the whole history — no permission needed, no embargo, no form. The methodology documents every series identifier, the weights, the base period and the revision policy, and states plainly what the index does not measure.

Consultants, trade associations and culinary programmes reusing this on a recurring basis should start at our partners page, which covers the free tools and educational access that go with it.

What Marji does — and doesn't

Does

  • — Digitises and costs a menu from a photograph
  • — Reads supplier invoices and recosts affected dishes
  • — Recommends the specific menu price that restores margin
  • — Pushes approved prices to a linked Square catalog (early access)
  • — Publishes a free QR menu with 21 designs
  • — Gives away 16 calculators and a 63-term glossary

Doesn't

  • — Bill pay or AP automation
  • — Accounting sync (QuickBooks and similar)
  • — Inventory counting workflows
  • — POS write-back beyond Square
  • — Change any price without explicit owner approval

Assets & claims

Logo: marji-logo.webp. Product screenshots on request — we'd rather send you a current one than have you pull a stale asset off a page.

A note on claims: Marji is early and we don't publish customer counts, revenue, or aggregate savings figures, because we don't yet have numbers we could stand behind. If you need a figure for a story, ask and we'll tell you what we actually know — including when the answer is “not yet.” Our editorial policy covers how we source everything else we publish, and what Marji is and who builds it covers the company background a story usually needs.

Working on a restaurant-cost story?

We track ten commodity categories weekly and can usually answer “what has X actually done this year” with a chart the same day. press@marji.co
